New Year, New Beginnings!

10:10 AM

Do you set New Years resolutions?  Personally, I usually forgo this custom as it inevitably leads to failure as I tend to forget my resolutions around February.  Still, I do love making lists so I scoured the internet looking for various Pagan and Wiccan resolutions to try.  Of course, many pagans see the New Year as beginning after Samhain.  Though, I see no harm in coming up with some goals at this time of the year as well.

Resolution Ideas:

1) Take a walk in nature everyday

I'm already pretty good at this one.  I try to go for a walk by the lake everyday to recharge my energy and to connect with the deities.  Going for a long walk during Winter in Chicago can sometimes be challenging, though with enough cozy layers and scarfs it's possible.

2) Attend at least one festival

I really hope to achieve this one this year.  I'm mostly solitary and have only been to a handful of Pagan events.  I hope to get my courage up and meet some more fellow Pagans this year.

3) Spend more time with your deities

Life can certainly be hectic and I find that I too often forget to connect.  I hope to use mediation more often this year and maybe even prayers before meals and bedtime to reconnect with the God and Goddess.

4) Make an altar tool or other Pagan craft idea

While I'm not very handy myself I hope to develop some more skills this year.  After all, handmade items tend to be much more powerful and meaningful than mass produced stuff from China.

5) Study a new tradition

With paganism, I find that the more you learn, the more you realize how little you know.  I've always enjoyed learning about different traditions, deities, and paths.  You could spend several lifetimes learning magical ways and there would still be more to discover.
